Types of Swedana
- How it works: The patient sits in a steam chamber or is exposed to herbal steam, which opens up the pores, promotes sweating, and helps release toxins (ama) from the body. The steam is often infused with medicinal herbs that have therapeutic benefits, such as eucalyptus, ginger, turmeric, or sandalwood.
- Indications: Used for conditions such as joint pain, stiffness, respiratory issues, and digestive problems. It also balances Kapha and Vata doshas.
- Duration: Typically lasts 15-20 minutes, depending on the patient’s tolerance.
