In Manyabasti, a dough ring is crafted using black gram flour or whole wheat flour and is placed around the cervical spine region (back of the neck). Medicated warm oil is then poured into the dough ring and allowed to stay in contact with the affected area for a set period, typically 15 to 30 minutes. The warmth and medicinal properties of the oil penetrate the skin, muscles, and tissues, alleviating pain and stiffness. After the treatment, the oil is removed, and a gentle massage is often performed to enhance circulation and relaxation.
The choice of medicated oil depends on the individual’s constitution, dosha imbalance, and specific condition. Common oils used include Mahanarayan oil, Dhanvantaram oil, and Bala Ashwagandha oil.
