Janu Basti (or Janu Vasti) is an Ayurvedic therapy that focuses on knee health. Derived from “Janu,” which means knee in Sanskrit, and “Basti,” meaning “to hold or contain,” this treatment is designed to relieve knee pain and nourish the joint structures. Warm, medicated oils are used to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and improve mobility in the knee joint, making it beneficial for a range of knee-related conditions.
The choice of medicated oil depends on the individual’s constitution, dosha imbalance, and specific condition. Common oils used include Mahanarayan oil, Dhanvantaram oil, and Bala Ashwagandha oil.
